Why three nights
American runs one nonstop a day from Charlotte, about two and a half hours, landing early afternoon. Add the hour from Bangor and Thursday is a travel day whatever we do. Three nights turns that into two full days on the island instead of one.
Acadia Luxury Retreat
Quiet wooded road · four miles to Hulls Cove
The roomiest and the most forgiving. Three bedrooms and two and a half baths at the end of a quiet road, with a chef's kitchen, a soaking tub, a deck and a fire pit. Cathedral ceilings, lots of light, cleaned with fragrance free products and organic linens throughout.

The number
$2,350 all in for the three nights, cancellable free through September 26. That is a thousand less than the other house and three more weeks to change your mind.
One thing I would handle first
The host asks to be messaged about kids between one and nine, and there is a caretaker apartment downstairs. If this is the one, I will clear it with her before anything is booked. Nothing for you to do.

Fresh Catch
The house · ten minute walk to town
A modern single level cottage, white and light and pared right back, sitting between downtown and the park. Three bedrooms, so Hudson gets his own room and Scarlett gets hers. The kitchen is full, the washer and dryer are in the house, and the patio has a fire pit.

Salt Cottages. October 1 is check-out only there, so a Thursday arrival is not possible, and for four of you the room that comes up is a 418 square foot studio with a king and a sofa bed. No second bedroom on your dates.
The Inn on Mount Desert and the Bar Harbor Inn. Both lovely, both hotel rooms. All four of you in one room for three nights, with Scarlett going down at seven.
Rentals on the far side of the island. Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor are beautiful and thirty to forty five minutes from the park entrance. Not worth it with two car seats.
